Other than a nice exhaust note, what is the advantage of a flat plane crankshaft in a V8? Why is the 90 degree crank the standard crank for the V8 instead of the flat plane crank?

From the net. Flat Plane Crankshaft Advantages: Lighter, more compact, more responsive (high-revving), better exhaust scavenging. Flat Plane Crankshaft Disadvantages: Prone to vibration, lower torque levels.
