You can also check the door tag on both vehicles, you'll find a code for transmission type and rear axle. Keep in mind your engine computer is programmed to work with a specific tranny and axle gearing. Before resorting to swapping out a tranny, have you ran it on a diagnostic stand? May be something like a torque converter or shift solenoid. Can save you a lot of needless work.
