Pretty much says it all........it's a June, 1960 3 speed 144ci manual shift.
Can't seem to find a starter on the usual parts sites.
Any ideas appreciated.

Hey Jim! Thanks man for the quick reply! First time on this site...... I was hoping to find a Ford NOS starter....... I guess it really doesn't matter. That's seems really cheap though! But tx for the info.......I'll check it out.

Ya know Jim! Right now I'm in the "FK ROCK AUTO" school of thought! They DO NOT have person to person cust. service. I have to get on some BS chat line to discuss my situation! I just wanna make sure their starter is compatible with my wagon........not spend half a day back and forth discussing it in a chat! I've done business with them before but I could talk to a human bring and get the job done. Im gonna check out NAPA. Again.....tx very much for your help. Ill keep ya posted!

Tx Jim! I bought one today from a local NAPA! They had a rebuild for $55 and a brand new one for &75.....w/lifetime warranty. Bought the $75 of course. Amazing that the starter in the Falcon is the original! I've got 45,446 original miles on her to date. Tx for the help guys!

As usual it was too good to be true! The battery is loaded. I installed the new starter. Turned the key........and all I got was the same ratcheting sound from the solenoid that I got before!!! Truth be told.......I returned the NEW solenoid and put the old one back in thinking it might be the starter....not the solenoid. Well......that appears to be the only weak link in the chain. I'll get a new solenoid and try it again. It just doesn't make sense to me though because the car started just fine 8 months ago. The sucker sat in a garage for 26 years and started up......!!!!! it can only be 3 things right? Battery.....Solenoid.....or Starter. Am I missing something?

Haha...still with me Jim! I'll check all of that later this week and let ya know. I thought the starter would be the end of it. Disappointing! We'll get it done though! Tx......again!

Turned out to be that battery after all! JEEZ! New battery and new starter.......she's NEVER started up so quick!! Interesting though.....the volt meter read the battery as fully charged. Apparently it wasn't!

Tx buddy! I'm no mechanic.....basic stuff on the Falcon and my Harley. I learn as I go. I just assumed if the voltage reader says 12v....it has 12v. Silly me! But here's a new wrinkle........when I start her up there is a high pitched squeal which immediately disappears once she is running. I can only assume it has to do with the new starter.......metal is rubbing metal somewhere. your thoughts please.

Tx Jim.......but I really can't visualize what you are saying about the clearance. Clearance between what?
