Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I have always used the online DMV sales/reg calculator and when I register a
new 2 me car it is correct to the penny.  Today a dealership told me the DMV
fees are $500 more than I calculated in the DMV website.    They broke it
down a little and said they need to collect 1 year of registration fees from
me.  that was 430 and then changed to  302 + 200 for what I don't know.

This is a big local dealership.
I just want to account for my money.

This is all dmv fees not dealership fees. those are separate .

NOV 2018 Just spoke with the CA DMV. No one can pay reg fees until they are due. Feb. 2019 in this case. No wonder the dealership said the paper work takes 3 months! (plus their $80 DOC fee). Now I see why they were guessing the reg fees. The DMV taxes and fees are the same for a private sale or dealership sale!
