Did any of the fluid gushed out and got on the engine belts. If the "screaming" happens when the engine idles or you accelerate, the belts are slipping and making the noise. If this is the case, with engine idling, pour some water on the belts, this usually stops the noise. If air is trapped in the pump lines, I would suction out all the fluid and replace it. I don't think that the pump is damaged, but one never knows not being able to see the car.
I did put Preston power steering fluid plus stop leak by mistake but immediately went and got the correct fluid and did my fluid change again. Could the Preston ps fluid have ruined my pump that quickly. Also my car calls for mercon v ATF.
Frankly, I don't know that the stop leak can damage the pump but, if the "screaming" is still present I think it is time for you to have the car checked by a mechanic.
Running the pump dry could have damaged it.
Alrighty then thank you very much I'm on my way to a mechanic now.
I appreciate it you all have been a big help I will probably have more questions about other things. Have a good day everyone.
