Buying a used car

Question type: General

Can some car guru give me their opinion on some of
today’s cars, like if they were looking to buy a used car,
what ones do they think hold up good and aren’t
constantly breaking down, not starting, costing lots to
maintain because you’re constantly having to buy parts
and hire mechanics?
I want to hear the kinda stuff you do, like “Toyotas last
forever” and “Volvos are made strong and don’t break
down much” and “Never buy a Ford with more than
250,000k on it” or anything helpful, please. Are there any
lists of ratings or charts or something I can find
somewhere?
Thanks!

my advice is , find out the most high mileage cars out there , like the Toyota 300k miles Honda 250k miles ect ,the older seven year and older that made it to big miles without much major repairs, known by old time mechanics, then just find one preferred away from the rust belt or a clean one with little miles on it, that's one road tested for you, the newer 06 and up have more technology ,if you will,, than the producers are able to test and complete , so its all about the thing out for warranty work quite often till that's gone then its still out quite often on your expense , re flash

the pcm,s recall the mishaps , the idiots are drunk with look what electronics can be made to do ! sorry not impressive , fools. a lot of it breaks within five years . and many will be scraped early because the repair it needs ,totals the thing out. A new car without at least a 10 year and through warranty would not be of my interest,

Thanks for answering James and Jim. Big help! Jim that’s exactly what I was wondering about, if there are some makes that are consistently producing a better product than others, and also what do car people think is a good car. Your opinion of Toyota, Honda and Nissan is agreed by lots it seems. My dad only liked Fords but you and he are the only supporters I know of. I want to find out about Mazda 3’s as well so also thank-you for giving me suggestions of places I can research. You’re a wealth of information and I appreciate it!
