Does the truck crank over? Can you hear the fuel pump prime? A lot of times when running out of fuel, you can burn out the fuel pump or suck a lot of sediment into the filter and lines. You might will need to replace the fuel filter at a minimum, then maybe have the fuel lines and injectors flushed/cleaned.

The truck does crank and the pump is working, the up has been replaced about 6 months ago, the thing throwing me off is I put a few gallons in it and it drove to my house without issue and it's about 15 miles, also I'm thinking filter because I don't think it's been changed
