1989F150 randomly shuts off turn key off then back on fires right up i have replaced dist module,pick up in dist,coil, power relays maybe fuel filter problem?

You could have an intermittent wiring problem for the ignition circuit, a loose or defective ignition switch (common Ford problem) intermittent computer power and or grounds, also bad sensor grounds can cause some problems but normally not just quitting, but this old anything is possible. A fuel filter would have a low to no engine pulling power. So as you stated you shut it off and then it starts right back up I would start with the ignition switch and then the circuits.
