Transmission swap

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1983 F100 with the 5.0L. The trans is
slipping and will eventually be rebuilt, but was
wondering IF the trans from a 1992 F150, also with
the 5.0L, can work in my 83 and what, If any,
changes may need to be made.

Both those years should be an AOD tranny, i think you'll be able to use it, the 92-93 years AODs were the best, but you'll have to check on the 92, as they were also using AODE or 4R70W as well. The AODE is an electronic control, which you would not be able to use. Some helpful links: http://www.charlietranny.com/AOD.htm , http://www.fordification.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=72167
