Mustang, yay or nay
I'm looking to trade in my car soon and
mustangs are on top of my list for what I
want... I hear they are expensive to
maintain? Are they reliable cars or just
good looking? I've heard some of both
sides so I would love to know if it's worth it
to go for

Lifetime Mustang owner, collector, and modifier here. The biggest question I have is....what year and models are you considering? The 1999 - 2004 Mustangs had solid 4.6L V8's and a durable 3.8L V6 (3.9L V6 in '04) as well. The 2005 - 2010 Mustangs had a tank of a 4.6L V8 and a 4.0L V6 that was quite underpowered. 2011 - Current Mustangs have the 5.0L V8 which is a great engine, but the MT-82 manual transmissions are absolute junk. The 3.7 V6 is also a good motor. As for maintenance, they are easy to work on and cheap to repair. The only time you really get into money on one of them is if you get a limited production model, i.e. a Shelby or SVT. Insurance tends to run towards a higher bracket due to a lot of teenage drivers making bad decisions in them, so you may want to check that as well. If you like Mustangs, I say go for it. Anything can happen with any car, but from my experience in owning well over 30 modern Mustangs, they are a great bang for the buck car that is a lot of fun and turns heads.
Mustangs should be better than average for repairs. I am a Ford guy because all my Fords have been great and have needed minimal repairs with high miles.
If you take care of it and don't abuse it a Mustang should be reliable. Don't buy a beater that some 19 year old kid has been racing and abusing.

Thanks everyone. I'm looking for 2006 or newer but not super new, also automatic transmission, so probably something under 10k with low miles. I only have a couple cars saved on here that fit my search. I was also considering camaros but they are super expensive and I have one saved that isn't too high of a price as well
