Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Where do put a dipstick to check
fluids accurately? The plug (where
fluid is level or checked)is lower
than the air breather for the
transmission,"How do I determine
the amount of fluid needed to be
topped off?"

No dipstick, should be a filler cap on top of the transmission. However they say you should only have to check the fluid level if you see leaks. Just another way to knock the home mechanic out of servicing your own car. See if Haynes or Chilton's has produced a book covering the trans.

Use a fluid extractor to syphon out a quart ever-so-often to freshen it up, just be sure to use the correct fluid type.
