Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Nissan began loosing power.
To the point that when going up
hill it would cause it to downshift
into a already wound out gear.
I did a compression check on 1
thru 4 cylinders.  1-155lbs. 2-
150lbs. 3- 95lbs. 4-90 lbs. So i
figured bad head gasket.
Replaced it with new head bolts,
torqued as directed.  Did a
compression chk. It was Worse.
MUCH . 20-30 lbs only. There were
NO CRACKS NOR WARPING i.
That head.
I am at a loss. Back yard
mechanic mom.

Burned valves can cause low compression. If the valves are not adjusted properly you will also lose compression. How do you know there were no cracks or warp? Did a machine shop check it out or did you just look at it?
