Will a starter from a 2002 Dakota fit on a 1997 Dakota

If they both have the same engine(i.e3.9 V6) Go to a parts website like Papboys,Rock auto or Car-Part.com(used) look up a starter for an 02 then look up a starter for a 97. If the part numbers are the same,your in!
