My 2002 Pontiac grand prix won't start

My 2002 Pontiac grand prix won't start my battery
is holding a charge because all of my car lights
come on but the alternator does not make that
clicking sound all lights stay on when I try to start it

Some one help this has cost me and my girl a job this is our only transportation

The elbow tube on the plenum had a leak which caused it to over heat and shut down now the car is in park but the dash light says reverse
