Yes, but it’s too expensive to do. Has to be converted to Japanese standards, pass the JCI (Japanese comprehensive insurance) to make sure the car won’t implode or break apart and kill someone or that it won’t wind up in already overfilled scrap yards. You have to purchase the insurance for the jci pay road tax which, if not soda status or a Y plate driver (y for yankee) is 80-1500 a year. Larger the engine displacement the larger the tax. The older the car, the more fees fines and anything else they want to charge you for the more it’ll cost. I live here, wanted my e30 to come, conversion to standard alone was 5000 for that car specifically, didn’t even include shipping. The title and the configuration have to match as well. So a 1200cc car that’s auto can not have a swap that’s a 2000 cc motor and manual. That would fail the jci, however for a steep fee you can alter the Japanese title to reflect the changes, however some countries won’t allow changed equipment, there are legal ways around it but it’s a hassle. Unless you have a collector car and no where to store it in the states or your country, you’ll need to decide sell it or ship it and take on that cost, otherwise not worth it, get something here:
