1995 ford aerostar van

Question type: General

I use my Aerostar for camping and I don't
like that the interior ceiling light can not be
turned off when the doors are left open.
Also. I notice my phone keeps charging in
the lighter even when the van is turned off.
Two questions: will the battery lose charge
from these practices? And is there any way
I can make the light go off without
unscrewing the bulbs?
Also, I have read the explanation in the
manual, but I still don't understand why
there is an Overdrive, and a Drive choice.
In the manual it actually says using the
Drive could harm the transmission. So why
give people a choice? I seem to notice the
gas mileage is much worse driving slowly
than it is on the freeway. Would keeping it
in Drive rather than overdrive when off the
freeway help improve the mileage? Really
hope someone can answer these
questions for me. Thanks!
