Will a 4.6L v8 out of a 2000 F-150 work in a
2002 4.6L v8 Mountaineer?

The basic blocks are the same, however they maybe some differences in the engine control sensors and wiring systems, but usually you can just transfer them across engines, should also check exhaust and Intake manifolds, as there might be a slight differance in where the exhaust dumps out, and the intake might have high speed runners on one rig and not the other, again just swap across.
