Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought my 08 G6 "used" and it was working
fine until today. Out of nowhere I got a engine
reduce power warning on my screen and I noticed
my coolant gauge was getting hot to quick I put
more antifreeze in it and still does this. The engine
fan even comes on. What could be the problem &
can the computer itself be misreading things?

Power is probably reduced to save your overheating engine from self destructing. Probably time for a cooling system service.

I don't think your engine is bad. Worst case is probably a bad head gasket. Just have the hoses and thermostat changed, the engine and radiator flushed and new coolant. Make sure the cooling fan is working.

Sounds good. I'll give it a try and the fan works. It comes on everytime the engine reduces power. Do you know how much it would be to get a new head gasket, Change hoses, and to flush the system ?

Don't assume the head gaskets are an issue. I just mention them as they can be a cause of overheating. Check your oil for coolant and the coolant for oil as these are signs of leaking head gasket(s).
