I posted a car for sale and got a response. I answered the buyer's inquiry. How long will it take for my response to get to the buyer?

Walk me through the process. My responses are not being received. (I tested it) I responded to an inquiry by first clicking the pen icon. I wrote the message, then I clicked on the arrow icon. Isn't that all I need to do to send a message?
