electric brakes kicking out while going over bumps

after installing a curt brake monitor  and driving it around i noticed every time i hit a bump the red light on the monitor comes on and off. after determining that it was not a loose or broken wire on the truck or trailer  i decided to hit rims with rubber mallet. and the brakes kicked off  with the same results    please help

Maybe you need to take the drums off the trailer and inspect. What type of brake system do you have? Surge or a brake controller?
