Battery won't charge Plymouth voyager

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So first of all I have a toggle switch to the
starter, a friends borrowed the van and left
the toggle on and melted the starter.  I
replaced the starter,  jumped the van and
drove it for a few days before it died again,
now it will not hold a charge.  So my
question is can the toggle switch incident
cause alternator issues? How can I test?

Might be a weak battery. Have both checked at your local auto parts store. They can do it for free.
