why does my 95 Grand Marquis idle really high when I first start it?

Asked by 1wizolman May 17, 2017 at 01:21 PM

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It idles high for awhile when I start it, then it finally settles down. It
doesn't have a gauge to go by.

A fast idle is normal but racing would be a problem. I would clean the throttle body and use a good fuel system cleaner and also check for vacuum leaks.

I found the solution to the fast idle on the Grand Marquis. I used 1/2 bottle of Dura Lube severe fuel system cleaner. I drove for about one mile and turned it off. When I restarted, it idled normal. Very happy!!
