Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Looking for some help here. I hear a light
pinging sound coming from my engine
while driving. No pinging noise when car is
in park and rev the engine under no load. I
also put car in drive and stepped on
brakes and revved engine to see if it
happened under a load, still no pinging.
However it happens every time I drive and
accelerate.

Is the check engine light lit? There could be carbon built up on the pistons and combustion chambers, does this vehicle burn oil? Try a higher grade of gasoline such as premium to see if it stops the pinging. You could also have a bad knock sensor.
