Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi,
I was driving the car.  The RPM suddenly dropped and the
car died.   All it would do was crank but did not turn over.
After towing the car at the mechanic it started but did not
stay on and idle.   Mechanic did a engine compression
check saw cylinder 1 much lower than other 3 .
Then i took it to the dealer they said the ECR or main brain
is dead.
Anybody had ideas?
I would appreciate step by step ideas of course from
cheaper to more expensive fixes.
Thanks

The car will never run without a good ECU. The compression is a separate issue.

When cylinder number 1 has very low compression could it be the result of anything other than blown cylinder.

When cylinder number 1 has very low compression could it be the result of anything other than blown cylinder. So I'm wondering six the car die due to dead ECU or cylinder issue??

Damaged piston or failed head gasket are other possibilities.

Thanks for the response. Stop what your saying is we have to start opening things up and it could be a minimum of head gasket replace or as bad as damaged pistons?
