Truck will not start new battery have to jump
start it could it be the alternator?
It just started doing this this winter I have
unhooked the cable from the battery is it
possible that the alternator is draining the
battery

Check battery voltage, it should be minimum 12.4. Check the battery cables for corrosion and make sure they're tight. If cables are ok, check voltage signal at the starter solenoid as you try to start it. If everything checks out good, replace starter. If u suspect alternator to be draining battery, just disconnect hot wire to it and tape it so it doesn't short out but I don't think that's the problem
