I have a 2008 Chevy Silverado the battery went
dead I changed and got a new battery the engine
light won't shut off

May have had something to do with switching the battery out, should go to an auto parts store and have the codes cleared. This would turn the light off. If there is something wrong, the check engine light would come back on, then get the trouble codes read to see what is going on.
