2005 dodge neon sxt overheats while idling

Asked by Michael Ashton Mar 07, 2017 at 08:18 AM

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just put in a new thermostat, upper & lower radiator
hoses, flushed.... radiator (8months ago) just found
a pin hole leak behind it. Car didn't overheat with
new radiator for about 6 months. The mechanic
said they don't recommend this usually but if I can't
afford a radiator yet he suggested blue devil sealer.
It overheats while idling for about 10-15 min but
when I drive it cools down. I'm thinking I also need
fans replaced.

Yes the fans need to be working. If they don't turn on that would be a cause for overheating sitting there at an idle.

Usually is with the relay, but a bad temperature sending unit can cause the fans not to work also.
