My 2000 ford ranger has electric 4wd it is
locked in 4wd low

I bet you were driving in 4WD on dry pavement. Try backing up and driving forward slowly in a straight line and then try again to shift it out. You may have to try several times to get in out of 4WD if you did not damage anything.
