2000 Pontiac Sunfire Se

OK need help I have a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire.
Ignition lock cylinder would not turn after days of
messing with it it finally turned I changed the lock
cylinder just in case. Put in new cylinder and
plugged wires back. With my new key and lock
cylinder it tried to crank it it turns over great but
will not crank up and run. There isn't a theft light
on dash. Please help

the system must detect proper R-code within ignition lock (or ignition switch) to start engine. Does NOT have chip in key
