Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My wife likes the '13-'15 Accura MDX. Are there any major issues or advantages with the AWD vs FWD that I should look out for? She currently has a 2004 Honda Pilot with 128,000 miles. She intends to drive the next car for +/- 10 yrs.

Unless you live in the snow belt, I would stay with FWD, AWD can be more expensive to maintain, since it's more complex than 2- wheel drive. Remember the car my not have a warranty when you by it.

I would go with the AWD system but I live in snow county. The MDX has full time AWD which should be better than all the part-time pretenders out there. Your mileage may be less than with FWD and the AWD is more complicated so there are more things to go wrong and repair.

I would add that Acura calls the AWD Super Handling as it aids in handling and emergency situations so there is a safety advantage to the AWD as well.

MDX is a great vehicle, I would opt for the AWD if you live where you have to occasionally or regularly drive in the snow. AWD will hurt fuel mileage by 1 or 2 mpg.
