Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My toyota 4runner dies out in the summer
when it's hot and when I'm using the air
conditioner - it'll run good until I reach a
stop light or let off the gas for the stop light
approach - then it dies as if it's out of gas- I
have to crank it three to four times before it
fires but dies at the next light! This only
happens In the summer - it has 273,820
miles- it's great other than this issue which
started occurring last summer- I've replaced
the fuel pump and filter and charcoal can
box- please help

Sounds like the fuel pump is getting weak in the summertime your fuel pump can heat up much faster than in winter and if the seals are going out or at the pump itself is getting weak it will shut down. But we usually start back up and run a little while and shut off again until one day it's going to shut off and not start

Have it read for codes, even if the check engine light is NOT on the computer will have stored information and codes. Discount auto stores will read codes for no fee. write them down.
