Dealership not honoring price

Asked by taylorschwab Sep 24, 2014 at 08:57 PM

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Shopping for Chevy Silverado 1500 Crewcab.  Found 2 separate dealerships NOT
honoring the price advertised on cargurus.  Both said, "oh it was a mistake, the
manufacturer pulled several rebates from us" and instead offered to sell the car for
thousands more (Strickland Chevrolet in Pearland, Tx) and Demontrond Chevrolet in
Texas City, Tx).  I assume these dealerships pay to advertise on cargurus?  Anyone
else have these complaints?

Thornhill gmc chapmanville WV did same thing .... had truck listed for 26 ... called and they said 35k BS!!!!!!

Tomes Ford, advertised a F-250 on CarGurus for $30k, when I called salesman asked his manager and the price was good. Text a bit later and said someone else was buying the truck. Then a little while later he texted me and said the deal fell through. He said the $30k was a mistake now wanted $39k.

Have had the same problem with dealerships NOT HONORING INTERNET QUOTES! They all say buyer must “qualify” for discounts even though their internet price is “guaranteed” until a certain date. Car gurus, TrueCar and even Consumer Reports all feed into a marketing LEAD service, period. You give your info and they nag you with NO DEAL! BAIT & SWITCH

Seen it where price is listed for a ford fusion at 16K but dealer said the price is 17K and the $1000 comes from a trade in...since we were not trading in, the price is not the same. It's BS.

Unique Automall in south amboy, NJ. Just pulled the ol bait and switch. List Price was $31,800 shipping included. After “purchasing” it on car gurus, taxes and fees brought it to $35,208. They reached via text and told me some lies. New total was $36,500 plus tax. ($38,403) It should be criminal to lie to customers like that. I won’t be purchasing anything from them in the future!
