what is a good mid-size 4x4 pickup?

other Cargurus detest DODGE, personally they ain't that bad, have had a few fleshy, big chryslers in my day....think about what you are seeing out there...what lasts and has the good reputation...also what design hasn't gone with the wind to modern unproven embedded electronic go-zies~ Ford, pokey, yeah tons of 'em the Chevy's are a bit gone-with-the-wind in terms of modern do-dads as is chrysler...Ford hasn't got this bug...or has had it since day one...4x4 eh? mudsport? or goin' where you shouldn't be goin?

by far Toyota is going to be your most reliable critter out there~...cannot speak to their 4x4 vehicles....but Toyota IS best!

i need one for every day use, travel to work and back, go see my friends, hit the beach, and every now and then go off onto a trail. i do plan on lifting it and doing aftermarket stuff, but i just cant afford a full size right now. im thinking a colorado or canyon, whats your opinion judge?

The colorado is a nice truck... but you cant pull too much with them due to the motor that's in them. Toyota makes a nice pickup as well.. Roy is right. The Toyota trucks are going to be the most reliable out there. However, don't discount a Dodge truck. You can get a Dodge Dakota with a V8 Magnum engine (the same engine they put in a Dodge Ram 2500. They can easily be jacked up and they tend to be a bit cheaper than Toyota. There is a reason why you NEVER see Chevy or Ford trying to compare themselves to Toyota or Dodge. It's because they don't stand a chance. You can get a GOOD used Dodge or Toyota for under 10k

my top dollar is 10k. but i need something under 105,000 miles. dodge and toyota still good for that?

gonna have to do a little shopping...to me and my wife about six months to find a MINI, green with leather...low miles...and shazaa, Calidad motors had this rental for not even a week...we snapped it up, regardless of a bargain, it was the ONE that we wanted~ The_Sheese could pull up yahoo motors, like I did and enter the things that are important...search by price, distance and go and look at a few~

i may do that. im not the biggest dodge fan, but the Dakota crew cab, 2001-2003 look good. hate the shifters tho,just weird to me, haha. its between a colorado/canyon and dakota. only time will tell i guess.

yeah.. if you take care of your Toyota or Dodge there is NO reason what-so-ever that you shouldn't be able to go 200k or more. My 97 Ram 2500 has 227k and it's still going strong. My 01 Dakota Sport has 190k on it and still runs like it's brand new. By far the best truck I've ever owned. I also know MANY people that have had Takomas that are up over 300k. Results OBVIOUSLY are going to vary. If you drive it hard, there's going to be more wear and tear on the vehicle. But if you take care of it There's no reason at all why a Dodge or Toyota won't last.

ive been afraid of dodge engines, drive trains and frames. especially the body because of the rust issues. im in northern ohio, we use salt and it eats metal like a 460 drinks gas.always been scared of it blowin a head. im not needing to tow anything, nor will i drive it hard, 70-75 on the turnpike once a year or so to Pennsylvania, and around the city to chill with friends.

I live around the Bedford, Altoona area of Pennsylvania. so we see a lot of salt and winter weather as well. if you keep your vehicle clean and wash it off and on throughout the winter (b/c of the salt) you shouldn't have an many issues with rust. mine are 97 and 01 and not a spot of rust on them anywhere. It is true that the rocker panels and the wheel wells back around the bed are almost always the first to rust out. But that's common. Especially in the part of the country that we live in. As far as the drive trains and frames.. I have heard of the problems but I've never had any issues. bought my Dakota new in 01 and bout my 97 in 05. I mean... everyone is going to have different experiences, so take my experiences with a grain of salt. I'm just saying....

hmmm. 4x4, just could not live with the hike to enter and exit the thing...with me mini you have to tumble your body into it without pullin' on the glass---it takes practice, guess there is something to be said for having a commanding view, lording over others~

just for funzies am going to have to check out what cargurus has~
