Brake fluid vs. power steering fluid

Why would powersteer fluid ruin the brake system on a HONDA CRV? A friend accidently replenished his
CRV 's master cylinder resevoir with powersteering fluid,brakes stopped working right and it cost him
1500 bucks to fix!!

Brake hydraulics are very sensitive. Heat. brake fluid boils to a very high temp and any other fluid will contaminate this system thus causing damage to anything like hoses, master cylinder, wheel cylinders even calipers. You can NEVER mix any other fluid with brake fluid.
