Is it possible to interchange engines

I have a 2000 mustang 3.8 can I install it in a 1996
Thunderbird that has 3.8. I have complete car so I
can use any parts

Replacing with the same engine, but newer, into a different car, has mixed possibilities. Compare the two, including all measurements; especially motor mounts. Both are OBD2, and as you're going to a newer engine, you shouldn't have any computer issues.
