My 2001 Audi TT has non functional CCM, I can't find another.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

can my 2001 Audi TT run without a Comfort Control Module?  The CCM was sent for repair and apparently wasn't repairable.  I can't find another and want to know if the car can be used without it, bc it won't start and not sure if it is the battery that is only one year old. I know the CCM works the door locks, inside light, alarm, convertible top, gas cap & trunk opener, but shouldn't prevent the car from starting.

I have a 2001 tt roadsters. My ccm is bad but the car still runs and is driveable. However I believe the ccm is causing a drain on the battery when the car is off. So i have to charge the battery every few days

I have a 2001 Audi TT Roadster with a toasted CCM. I found a NiB one in Europe that actually shipped TODAY (yay!). I pulled the old one out a few weeks ago, disassembled it to see if it could be repaired by any of the folks who do that as a service. While it was out, I tried to crank the car up to move it - nothing... ECM error on dash - not even a starter click. So the answer to your original question would be "nope"

I was able to find one of these which came out of an A6. Thr circuitry is almost identical and it was only a $50 gamble. I still have to verify the circuitry and either make changes to this board or swap componients from this board to my original board. But compare this photo and the one jack has posted. You'll see the one relay is different and this one has an extra electrical componient. Between the relays and the plug in connectors

Seeing if I can get my photo to sit the same way jacks is to make the comparison easier

Also ran into this problem on my Audi TT Mk1 Roadster. The location where the drain holes are filled up with water, and toasted the same area. I might be able to run some tracers and solder some of the components but it's a gamble. Also, l let the circuit board soaked in 91% isopropyl alchohol to remove corrosion, not initial crank after the board was pulled.

Brian, did your experiment with the A6 CCM work out? I could really use some help with this problem.

The car ran just fine so I hope I have not done any damage nor have to charge the battery every few days. The only thing I realised driving home was that we (me and mechanic friend) had left windows in open position so unless I pop the unit back in for a couple of minutes they will stay that way until repaired. Interesting to read that they are not coded to the car. Does this mean if I find a unit for sale I can slot it in and all will be well?
