2018 Ford edge needs new engine.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have a 2018 Ford edge bought from Ford
dealer put 20000 miles on it and notice the coolant
was down.
Filled it , was down again took to dealer said it
needed a new block .
This seems to be an on going problem we have
6000 miles and we will be out of the manufacturer
warranty.
Should I ask them to put on the extended warranty
At cost?
We will loose way to much if we trade in and we're
afraid this will happen again.
Please advise.

This is a known problem. A friend with a '18 Escape received a letter from Ford about this. Let your local Ford Dealer do the repair under warranty! You should still be in both bumper to bumper warranty and powertrain warranty! Bumper to bumper warranty is 3 years or 36,000 miles and powertrain warranty is 5 years or 60,000 miles whichever comes first! Hopefully you always had the vehicle serviced at the Dealer! If not, you'll need to show receipts that you have kept up on the scheduled maintenance. Hope that helps! Jim
