SALVAGE HISTORY, WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Question type: General

WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN IT SHOWS THIS COMMENT?

1 Answer

the car may have been totaled by the insurance company. Large dealers would use brand new parts, and would charge more than the insurance feel the car is worth. The car may be sold to a scrap yard,(the title is surrendered to the state) then resold to a body shop that can make the repair using used parts that are still in good condition. After passing a safety inspection the state will reissue the title as salvage. (It could be just cosmetic as hail damage)
