I was charged $966 and change for buying a $7000 truck from an individual. It was done in a backdoor, underhanded way as I only found out after wanting to pay the truck off right up front before the first payment was made. Called the credit union and asked for a payoff on the $7000 note and it was $966 and change. CarGurus added $966 in fees and unless they refund that back to the credit union then my pay out for the truck is not $7000 plus interest but rather $7966 and change plus interest. Real underhanded, dishonest and outright theft.

None, the fees are paid by the seller if done privately. A dealer , they can charge you the regular dealer fees.

No sir. I just got charged these fees. Say what you wish but your information is incorrect. Buy a vehicle from an individual and then try to pay it off and then tell me you did not get charged fees. I am in the middle of a fight with them over it right now.

I bet that extra $966 was sales tax and mandatory state fees.

I wouldn't know that. I still have not been allowed to pick up my vehicle yet and it has only been 6 weeks since I started this venture. I have been avoided in every way imaginable and can only assume what the money is for.

Let's say you are correct, all they needed to do was tell me by contacting me. I have always had to try over and over to contact them. Maybe I'm just not used to someone taking 6 weeks to get a deal completed and still not have the vehicle in my possession. I will be the first to say I'm sorry if I am wrong.

I bet you work for CarGurus or autopay. I got a copy of my contract and was charged 449.00 for document fees alone. Next was sales tax but I will have to pay sales tax again when I go to the tax office for my tags as I asked the autopay guy if I get my tags from them and he stated no. I am having my attorney go over the contract as some parts of the contract I did not sign all the sudden showed up in a pdf he sent me. That is illegal. He also sent me a copy of the sellers pictured drivers license and other info. Another illegal action. Now, do you expect me to believe this is a legit business? I think not. I will let me legal team handle it from here.
