Oil Pressure

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2004 Ford Expedition won't start. The oil was low so I added oil and I put too much in where it went over the Max Line. My wife drove it on a trip 75 miles away and when she tried to start it again it would crank but not start. The Message Center says Low Oil Pressure but the Gauge goes active and then drops off. Haven't had any problems with it until I exceeded the Max Limit with the oil. I took a little oil out to get under the limit, but it still does the same. Did I damage something with too much oil or what?

Just a little over the line would not hurt anything. A couple of extra quarts could damage the engine. Low oil pressure warnings when the engine is not running do not mean anything but it you get this warning when the engine is running you need to fix it right away.
