Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

So, if I take my plate/tags from my car when I sell it, what does the buyer use
as a plate until he/she can get a plate of their own? Would they just drive
without a plate? How can they have proof of insurance without a plate?

They either have the title showing change of ownership or a bill of sale.

Yes, most state DMV's will issue a plate or temporary one when the buyer registers the vehicle. Some state use Notary services.
