will start with ether but it won’t start and run

Definitely sounds like the fuel pump. Get a helper to turn the ignition key on but don't try to start the engine. Listen back by the gas tank. You should hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds. If not hit the bottom center of the gas tank a few times with a hammer. If that gets you going it's definitely the fuel pump. If not, replace the fuel pump relay, they're cheap. If the vehicle was parked with an empty gas tank, clean the tank when replacing the fuel pump. Hope that helps! Jim
