2000 Grand Marquis Idles low, voltage drop, dies

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the battery this month. I want to rule out my
alternator because I checked the voltage drop when I
installed, drops a few volts, then jumps over 14 in idle. Car
starts, but without giving it gas, will idle low, and then die. If
I keep revs constant for a few minutes, it will reluctantly
stay running. Seems like the battery gauge drops a lot
when I dont give gas. Doesnt feel like I'm missing any
cylinders, and no check engine light on. Any ideas where
the problem might be coming from?
