Mysterious behavior of radiator fan

Asked by Guru1HR3C Sep 11, 2019 at 06:58 AM

Question type: Car Customization

I have wired the radiator fan and ac via relays
taking control voltage from Alternator L
terminal, hoping if engine stalls due to any
reason, the relays would not have working 12
volts, such that for re-starting no extra load is
put on the starter.
BUT, when I switch off the engine and even
after overnight, when I switch the Ignition ON
(Not Running), the fan relay remains energized
killing the very purpose of taking off the extra
load from starter.
HOWEVER, when the Ignition switch is put off
ONCE MORE and then switched ON,
everything operates normally.
Any thoughts, as to why Ignition needs
switching off twice to come out of the
energized relay state.
Thanks
