Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 4 by 4, I was driving it
almost out of gas went to the gas station turn it off put gas
in it and went to start it back up and it wouldn't fire up I
mess with it for about an hour and a half oh, and it finally
started back up I turn it off to other times and it took me
awhile to get it to start back up each time I drove it home
parked it got up the next morning and went to start it and it
wouldn't start and it hasn't started at all. I've checked the
cool I've checked fuses I've charge the battery I've changed
the crank sensor down by the transmission what else could
it possibly be I haven't checked the distributor but I'm
getting ready to.

Fuel in the tank is used to keep the fuel pump cool. If it overheats, probably due to allowing gasoline level to run too low, it can cause the pump to go out. That's why you should refuel when you see the low gas light in the gauge. Have the fuel system checked out; you probably need a new pump.
