2005 bmw 325ci convertible v6

was driving home..car stalled and
turned off.....yellow oil light came on
when car shut off. did i blow my
engine up? the car DID NOT OVER
HEAT, NO SMOKE, or anything. just
shut off. does bmw's automatically
shut off if oil gets too low? i also have
an oil leak coming from
somewhere..idk where. please help.

If the light was Red, I would be concerned. I doubt the engine is damaged. Have the oil leak taken care of. Most probably the oil filter housing gasket or the valve cover is the culprit. Any other maintenance performed recently? Noises? When doing the valve cover gasket, replace your spark plugs too if they are original. Check engine light on? Go to youtube and search valve cover gasket BMW E46 and OFHG replacement.

no the light wasn't red and i think i have some sort of "spark knock" when i pull off to accelerate. i can't explain the noise but i know it hasn't always been there. someone told me it's probably my fuel injection or trash in it or some sort. thanks a lot.
