2015 Chev Malibu Trunk

Asked by viprvenm Jul 30, 2019 at 11:48 PM

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2015 Chev Malibu trunk won’t open.
Key fob trunk button - lights flash, but trunk
won’t open.
Pushing trunk button on the car - I can hear it
electronically trying to open, but it won’t.
I replaced the fuse.
I replaced the trunk latch assembly.
Still have the same results.
What else should I try?

That sound you hear is a solenoid. It's like a remote finger pushing the latch inside to open it. I suspect the solenoid or the wiring to it is defective.

Where would I find the solenoid to replace it? Is it the trunk button itself?

Get the trunk open then look at the mechanism. Check the Chevy parts catalog to find how the parts mate up and which you'd have to buy to make the replacement. Might be part of the latch mechanism or might just bolt on.
