Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 96 5.7 Chevy 1500 that isn't getting
spark from the coil or the distributor. Does
anyone know what it could be from? It was
running I shut it off at the gas station and it
wouldn't start back up. It will crank but it
wouldnt start back up.

Note the wiring diagram. Did you check primary voltage to ignition coil? Pink wire--goes hot with key on and fuse protected. You can use a test light to check for voltage. Does the dist rotor turn when you crank it? How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? Engine cranking, do you have fuel injector pulse? I wondered about rpm signal, comes from crank sensor. I'm not saying replace anything. You need to do some testing. Just my opinion
