My 2002 mustang gt 4.6L won’t start.
Ok so the original motor went to hell so I put
a 2004 Mercury motor in it and hooked
everything up and put all fluids in it and it
cranked over about 4 times. It did sound
kinda rough when cranking over and then it
stopped. Tried it again and it sounded like it
was locked up and tried it a few more times
after charging my battery and it does nothing
at all now and my miles are not reading and
my theft light is blinking really fast. This was
my first rebuild and I’m lost on why this is
happening to me.
You said you put a 2004 mercury engine in it? What size was it? and from what model vehicle?
2004 grand Marquis with a 4.6 L
Check the engine grounds too.
Yea. Can I lock a Engine up by trying to start it the first time after installing it? It literally cranked over about 4 times and then it sounded like the motor was locked up and now it don’t do anything but flash theft really fast. Even with a charger on it. I’m just worried it locked up when I tried starting it.
I’ll check all grounds to Make sure.
To make sure it is not locked up put a socket and ratchet on the crankshaft bolt motor should spin freely if it does most likely a ground problem.
Ok I’ll give it a shot. Do I need to take belt off and do I go clock wise?
Well it moves a few inches and stops and then I can move it a few inches back and it stops
Ok check the bolts that connects the torque converter to flywheel one may have come loose hitting the frame of trans had this happen to me before. If everything is tight remove bolts from flywheel to transmission then try turning over engine with ratchet and socket should move freely clock wise or counter clockwise if moves freely torque converter is locked up.
So it turning a half rotation and stopping means something is blocking it from turning over?
