1991 Oldsmobile cutless Sierra

My friend just got a 1991 Oldsmobile
cutless Sierra, she has a problem
where the car will run good for a while
then it'll sputter and die out, if she let's
it sit for about 10 minutes it will start
right back up and go, but after running
it for a while it will sputter and die out
again when she lets off the gas any
ideas?

Any funny smell or noises? Could be a clogged catalytic converter that gets worse as it gets hot.
